Chicharon is a dish of fried pork or fried pork skin, but can also be prepared in the oven. Pork can be replaced with chicken, mutton or beef. This dish is popular in Andalusia in Spain, Latin America and other places with Spanish influence, including the southwestern United States. It is part of the traditional cuisine of Bolivia and Portugal, where it is called torresmo, as well as in El Salvador and Mexico and other countries in America. Pupusas corn cakes are often stuffed with Chicharon bites.

Required products :

  • 300-400 grams of pork, cut into chunks
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method of preparation :

Season the pork with salt and pepper.

Bake in a preheated oven for 60-80 minutes or until it acquires a nice golden tan.

Serve with fried cassava or potatoes, or add as a filling to Pupusas cornbreads .
