Peel the potatoes and cut them into circles no thicker than 0.5 cm. Add salt and pepper to taste and carefully pour some of them into a pan lined with baking paper. Cut the onion into slices, pour half over the potatoes and spread with 2 tablespoons of cream. Sprinkle with 1/3 of the grated yellow cheese, then distribute the remaining potatoes, the other half of the onion, 2 tablespoons of cream, 1/3 of the yellow cheese. Put the rest of the cream on top.
Place the dish in a preheated oven for about 40-50 minutes (until the potatoes are soft). Remove from the oven, sprinkle the casserole with the remaining yellow cheese and return to bake (about 10 minutes).
