Combine 1 3/4 tea cups of milk with hot pepper and bring to a boil. When this happens, add the basil leaves and remove from the heat. Allow the mixture to stand at room temperature for 1 hour or refrigerate for 12 hours.
Strain through a fine sieve, squeezing the leaves to release their juice.
Save 1/4 of this sauce, and mix the rest with the mango, salt, lemon juice and peel, the remaining canned coconut milk and honey. Blend until creamy. Try and season to taste with more salt and lemon juice.
Cool for 15 minutes.
Pour the soup into bowls, top with the rest of the herbal sauce with coconut milk and garnish with a few fresh basil leaves. Serve with toast.
