How To Cook Salty Sandwiches With Ham, Cheese And Spinach - Recipe

Required products :

For the sandwiches :

  • 1 kg of puff pastry
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon of water

For béchamel :

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • freshly ground black pepper

About the filling :

  • 220 grams of diced ham
  • 2 teaspoons fresh spinach, rinsed and chopped
  • 1 teaspoon grated cheese

For sprinkling :

  • shredded Bulgarian yellow cheese

Method of preparation :

 

  • Preheat oven to 200 degrees and cover the bottom of 2 large baking trays with parchment paper.
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the flour and salt and cook until light golden, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the warm milk and stir constantly with a wooden spoon for 7 minutes until smooth.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for another 10 minutes.
  • Add the spinach, stir and cook for about 1 minute.
  • Add the ham and cheese, mix well and remove from the heat. Season with black pepper to taste.
  • Cut the puff pastry into squares and arrange them in the trays, leaving about 2-3 centimeters between them.
  • Spread the béchamel sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese and fold the edges to the top.
  • In a small bowl, mix the beaten egg with the water and spread the sandwiches with the mixture.
  • Bake for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Serve the salted sandwiches warm and enjoy.
