Required products :

  • 1 sauerkraut
  • 200 grams of beans
  • 2 onions
  • 100 grams of rice
  • 120 milliliters of oil
  • 1 teaspoon dry spices of your choice
  • 150 milliliters of cabbage broth
  • paprika

Method of preparation :

Pre-soak the beans for 10 - 12 hours in cold water, then boil it until semi-finished. Save the decoction.

Wash the rice, boil it for 10 minutes in salted water, drain the liquid with a colander. Save the rice decoction.

Separate the leaves from the cob, cut the hard and thick parts, and cut the middle.

Cut onions into small cubes and stew for 5 minutes in oil.

Add the beans and rice, add the spices, salt to taste, stew briefly and the filling is ready.

On each cabbage leaf put a little of the resulting mixture and form sarmi. Distribute the chopped cabbage on the bottom of a suitable dish, arrange the sarma on top.

Mix the bean and rice decoctions, add the cabbage soup to them, taste and if necessary add salt.

Fill the sarma with the liquid, close the container with a lid, place in an oven preheated to 140 - 150 degrees and leave to cook for 2.5 - 3 hours or until ready, periodically checking this with a fork.

Before serving the dish, pour the sauce obtained during the preparation of the sarma, sprinkle with paprika and enjoy!
