Required products :

1 kg of sauerkraut

2 large onions

2 tablespoons tomato paste

a few strips of bacon

1 tablespoon cumin

2 tablespoons ground red pepper

ground black pepper

oil

 

Method of preparation :

Pour cold water over the sauerkraut and leave for an hour (if it is very sour or salty).

Cut the onion into semicircles and fry it in oil until transparent.

 

Then add strips of bacon to it

 

and fry for a few minutes, stirring constantly.

 

Gather the onion at one end of the bowl and place the tomato puree in the free space. Fry briefly.

 

Then pour the cabbage that you squeezed out of the water.

Add cumin, red and black pepper. Stir and let the dish simmer for 25-30 minutes on medium heat, stirring constantly.

 

You may need to cook for a longer time, depending on the cabbage, so try periodically.

 

Serve as a main dish or as a side dish to meat or sausages, for example.
