How To Cook Strawberry Shortcake With Walnuts And Cinnamon - Recipe

Required products :

About the topping :

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 tea cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 cup raw walnuts, chopped in bulk
  • 1 teaspoon fresh strawberries, cut into slices

For the cake :

  • 1 1/3 tea cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 tea cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2/3 tea cup sour cream, at room temperature

Method of preparation :

About the topping :

  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
  • Put the butter in a round baking dish with a diameter of about 20 centimeters.
  • Melt it in the oven and use a brush to lubricate the bottom and walls.
  • In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves powder and walnuts. Stir.

For the cake :

  • In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter with the sugar for about 3 minutes until fluffy.
  • Add the egg and vanilla and turn on the mixer for another 1 minute.
  • Carefully add the flour mixture and mix with a wooden spoon or spatula.
  • Add the sour cream and stir again briefly without overdoing it.
  • Sprinkle the bottom of the baking dish with the mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and nuts.
  • Spread the strawberries, which you have previously cut into slices, on top.
  • Pour the dough and lightly flatten with a spoon.
  • Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until the toothpick comes out of the cake clean.
  • Allow the cake to rest for about 10 minutes in the form before turning it over on a plate or tray.
  • Serve the strawberry cake warm, garnished with whipped cream.
