Required products :

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 2/3 tea cup of fresh milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 whole eggs (painted on request)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Method of preparation :

In a large bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of flour, sugar, salt and yeast. Stir and allow to simmer.

In a small saucepan, heat the milk and add 2 tablespoons of butter (the milk should warm up and the butter should soften but not melt).

Gradually add the milk-butter combination to the flour and yeast, stirring constantly. Put the 2 eggs and 1/2 teaspoon of flour. Mix well. Add the remaining flour in portions of 1/2 tea cup and knead after each. When the dough is ready and has absorbed all the flour, take it out on a kitchen counter and knead until it becomes smooth and elastic (about 8 minutes).

Lightly grease a large bowl and put the dough in it, turn it to grease on all sides. Cover with a damp cloth and leave to warm (about 1 hour).

Remove the dough on a floured kitchen counter. Divide it into two equal halves and shape them into balls. Leave to rise again for 10 minutes. Make a long wick from each dough.

Intertwine the two rolls to get a braid, form in a circle and intertwine the ends. Put the 5 eggs between the braids. Leave the bread to rise for 45 minutes, covered with a damp cloth. Coat the surface with melted butter and bake the dough at 175 degrees for 30 minutes.
