How To Cook Sweet Potato Pie With Orange Peel And Strozel - Recipe

Required products :

for the stroll:

  • 3/4 cup walnuts (or pecans), chopped
  • 1/4 cup + 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon spice for pumpkin pie
  • pinch of salt

per share:

  • 400 grams of pie dough
  • 1 kg of sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into small circles
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • grated peel of 2 oranges
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons spice for pumpkin pie
  • 1 teaspoon orange peel
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method of preparation :

Combine all the ingredients for the strosel and let stand for 30 minutes, then break into small pieces.

Preheat oven to 190 degrees. Form the pie dough into a pan and fold the edges.

Boil the sweet potatoes, sugar, orange peel and 1 cup of water. Cover with a lid, reduce the heat and simmer the potatoes until soft. Drain and save the liquid in which you boiled them. Rinse them with cold water and set aside.

Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce the heat and cook over low heat for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside 2-3 tablespoons of the liquid and discard the rest.

Combine the sweet potatoes with the brown sugar, flour, pumpkin pie spice , salt and set aside liquid. Pour the mixture over the pie crust and sprinkle with the strudel. Cover the pan with aluminum foil and bake the dish for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and continue cooking for another 35-45 minutes or until done.

Cool the pie, cut into pieces and serve.
