Required products :

  • 1/2 teaspoon warm water
  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast
  • 4 1/2 to 5 teaspoons flour
  • 1/2 cup fresh milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 6 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

for the stuffing:

  • 2 teaspoons boiling water
  • 400 grams of dried apricots
  • 2/3 tea cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • for the glaze:
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons of cream
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • roasted sliced ​​almonds

Method of preparation :

In a bowl put the yeast, warm water and half a cup of flour, stir and leave for 10 minutes. Then add the milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, orange peel, butter and salt, mix well.

Add the remaining flour cup by cup, stirring well.

Knead a soft dough. Transfer to a bowl and leave to rise for about an hour and a half.

For the filling, add the apricots to the boiling water and let them soak for 15 minutes. Drain and mix with the sugar, almond extract and puree in a food processor.

Line two trays with parchment paper and divide the dough into two equal parts. Mix each piece and roll into two rectangles.

Distribute the filling between them, leaving one end on the long side clean. Roll into rolls, starting from the end with stuffing.

Put the rolls in both trays and roll to form a circle. Connect the ends.

Leave the two rolls to rise for 15 minutes, then make incisions on the surface. Allow to double in volume for another 20 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 175 degrees and bake the breads for 25 minutes.

For the glaze, combine all the ingredients except the almonds.

Make a mesh of icing on both cakes and sprinkle with sliced ​​almonds.
