Required products :

First floor :

  • 2 tablespoons lukewarm milk
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Second floor :
  • 7 tablespoons flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons fresh milk
  • powdered sugar for sprinkling

Method of preparation :

  • Grease a square baking dish with approximate dimensions of 20x20 centimeters.
  • Pour the milk into a cup and sprinkle with yeast.
  • Allow the mixture to stand for 5 minutes and stir to dissolve the yeast.
  • In a large bowl, beat the butter with the sugar and salt with a mixer for about 3 minutes.
  • Add the egg and turn on the mixer for another 1 minute.
  • Add the flour 3 times, alternating it with the mixture of fresh milk and yeast.
  • Mix with a wooden spoon or spatula until smooth and elastic dough.
  • Lightly knead your hands and transfer the dough to the form, pressing it with your palms to cover the bottom.
  • Cover with foil and leave to rise for 2 hours.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the top of the cake by sifting the flour and cornstarch into a large bowl. Add salt and stir.
  • In another bowl, beat the butter with the sugar and honey for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract and turn on the mixer for another 1 minute.
  • Add the flour 3 times, alternating it with the milk and mix with a wooden spoon.
  • Pour the mixture over the marshmallows and bake the cake in a preheated oven to 180 degrees for about 20-25 minutes.
  • Allow the butter cake to cool completely before slicing.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.
