Dumplings are a very popular Ukrainian dish. These are dumplings made from dough that is boiled in water, milk or broth. They are prepared mainly with flour and stuffing of semolina, cottage cheese or grated apples.

There are several variants of dumplings, depending on the region in which they are prepared. In southern Ukraine they are served in tomato sauce, and sometimes with sour cream or gravy sauce.

Required products :

  • 2 eggs
  • 100 grams of sour cream
  • 3 cups flour
  • 100 milliliters of water
  • salt to taste
  • 100 grams of butter, half melted

Method of preparation :

Pour the water and flour into a bowl and stir. Add the half-melted butter and homogenize with a wire spoon. Knead a soft dough, cover with a towel and let rest for 15-20 minutes.

Roll out the dough to a thickness of 0.5-1 cm and cut it into pieces of different shapes (usually cut into squares). Boil the pieces in boiling salted water for 10 minutes on low heat. Remove the dumplings with a slotted spoon or place in a colander to drain excess water. Heat olive oil in a pan and fry them briefly.

Serve the dumplings with sour cream or tomato sauce.

Enjoy your meal!
