Required products :

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 teaspoons onion, chopped
  • 2 cups green kamba, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 kg of ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 can of tomato paste
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • pinch of cayenne pepper
  • 1 can of red beans, drained

Method of preparation :

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add the onion, kambi and garlic and cook, stirring often, until soft. Add the minced beef and chop the meat with a fork until it changes color from pink to brown, then pour in the water, canned tomatoes, bay leaves, chili powder, cumin, vinegar, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Stir to mix all ingredients well. Cover with a lid and simmer on low heat for 1 hour.

Add the canned red beans and cook uncovered for another 30 minutes. 

Remove the bay leaves before serving.
