Each country has its own food standards offered in schools, with some focusing on fast food and others preparing specially selected meals. The most popular among them contain potatoes, rice, cabbage salad and fresh milk. Here's what the menu looks like in some parts of the world.
Iran
According to the rules in Iran, all young people up to the age of 14 can consume up to one cup of milk, pistachios, fresh fruit and biscuits for lunch. Parents usually prepare lunch boxes for their children, containing rice, tomatoes and lamb kebab or meat.
South Korea
The school food planning system in South Korea is among the best in the world. The most common dishes are soup and rice, usually garnished with a small amount of salad, seafood or fruit. Popular among the foods are: kimchi, sarma with sesame and rice in honey sauce, pumpkin soup, pancakes with fresh onions, pepper, octopus and carrot salad with cucumbers.
Japan
The menu in Japan is similar to that in South Korea: hot soup, chicken or fish, salad and milk. Students are not allowed to import home-cooked food. They take their lunch from the dining room, but eat it in the classroom.
United Kingdom of Great Britain
The budget of most schools in England is limited, so children's meals are monotonous and include french fries, carrots, rice porridge, fruit, salad, waffles with chocolate. The students adore them.
United States of America
The lunch menu in America is rich and includes steamed corn, peaches, chicken, soup. Most of the time, semi-finished products such as breaded bites, french fries and pizza are offered. Parents are allowed to prepare lunch boxes for their children, including other dishes.
Turkey
In Turkey, the food consumed by young people is prepared by the family and includes slices of rye bread, pomegranate, walnuts, grapes, apples and yogurt. These products are believed to increase intelligence and it is important for children to take them.
Thailand
The most common lunch offered in Thailand is pork or chicken in a sweet and sour sauce, pudding in banana leaves and boiled rice.
France
Lunch served to students in France always includes fish or chicken, spinach, potatoes, cheese and bread. This meal is considered basic during the day, so it is accompanied by a break of one to two hours, during which young people can go home.
Finland
The school management in Finland is planning the lunch menu very seriously. Breakfast is also available. Children eat in the dining room, where they have the right to choose from a variety of dishes, such as boiled potatoes, baked meatballs, salad, nuts and milk with muesli.
Russia
In Russia, breakfast is free from 9 am to 12 noon. Then the consumption, including tea, buckwheat porridge or rice, various sausages, is paid.
Hungary
Quite a rich lunch menu in Hungarian schools, which offers soup, roasted beans with meat or sausages, homemade bread, various nuts every day.
Israel
Fresh fruit, healthy desserts and food are just some of the dishes in Israeli schools. They are always different and tailored to the needs of children.
