How To Prepare And Pack A Lunch On The Road?

May holidays, all the more so successfully arranged this year, are traditionally considered a time of travel and country trips.

May holidays, all the more so successfully arranged this year, are traditionally considered a time of travel and country trips.

What is a trip or picnic without treats and snacks? A food kit for a picnic is a field for imagination, but when there is a long trip (for example, by train or car), lunch is not only an interesting activity, but also a necessity. How to plan a menu to have a tasty, filling and healthy snack?

Say "no" to perishable products!

No matter how ardent a fan of mayonnaise salads you are, give them up. Mayonnaise and similar dressings go bad very quickly, in addition, they can flow, which presents another problem. You should not add perishable sauces to sandwiches/sandwiches in the same way as you should grease them with butter - dairy products are also a bad part of the road menu, the maximum you can afford is processed cheese, but you need to eat it in the first 2-4 hours.

Avoid poorly fried meat and fish, do not take risks by taking cooked sausage or salted fish with you - these are perishable products and are not suitable for traveling.

A sandwich that is so popular on the road can also play a bad joke - do not rush to cook and pack it at home. Even if you exclude mayonnaise and butter from its composition, you take a risk by combining meat, slices of vegetables, and processed cheese. It is better to assemble a sandwich from the same ingredients before immediate use, it will be tastier and less risky, because at high temperatures, the meat and vegetables will leak in a few hours, which will create ideal conditions for the life of bacteria.

Avoid cakes, chocolates and sweets that contain cream. Fruit desserts (cakes and buns) are acceptable, but only if the filling is well baked.

The season of fresh vegetables and fruits is open!

Remember that May is not yet the time for vegetables and fruits from the garden, so be careful when choosing fresh vegetables to avoid falling prey to nitrates and pesticides. It is not recommended to take vegetable salads with you on the road, that is, cut and chopped vegetables long before consumption. Prefer to either eat individual vegetables on the road, or create a salad from them a few minutes before lunch, taking with you a container for it and a dressing in an airtight container (the best option would be olive or sunflower oil).

However, few people can get enough of vegetables alone. Traditionally, a suitable option for a "road lunch" is baked or boiled chicken, veal, turkey (make sure that the meat is well cooked, perhaps with the addition of natural preservatives, such as rosemary, tarragon, garlic), salted lard, smoked balik or raw smoked sausage, boiled eggs, baked potatoes.

Apple, banana, citrus fruits, fresh berries are an excellent delicacy for both adults and children.

Take care of convenient and practical packaging

A real find for a tourist is a portable cooler bag, and if you are an avid fan of traveling, which is more convenient with a bag that is not always light, by car, then it simplifies the transportation of many products. If you do not have such a practical container in your household, we will resort to using foil and parchment paper, they keep the temperature well and prevent odors from spreading. Don't try to pack soup or broth with you, if you want to try the first dishes on the way, it's better to look at a roadside cafe.

"Dry ration"

This is something that should not be excluded from the road menu - shortbread cookies, crackers, crackers, nuts, dried fruits, lollipops. You can also afford porridge / instant noodles, but under one and only condition - it is acceptable for adults who do not abuse this kind of products.

A few unnecessary words about healing moisture...

It is worth remembering that an adult body needs up to two liters of water per day, this is without taking into account juices and juices. When you go on a long journey, especially in the hot season, do not forget to supply yourself with a drink - let it be the same juices and juices and definitely clean still water.
