People who eat fast until they are full are three times more likely to gain weight, warns the Japanese.
Their observations included 1,122 men and 2,165 women between the ages of 30 and 69 who completed a survey on their eating habits. 50.9% of men and 58.4% of women ate until they were full, and 45.6% and 36% of both sexes, respectively, reported eating very fast. The combination of the two factors registers a significant caloric intake, a high body mass index and a much more serious incidence of obesity.
The eating habits of modern man are very different from those of years ago, in connection with the widely available temptations in large portions and at not very high prices. Another problem today is the lack of any family traditions about dinners, as well as consumption at the same time as other activities, such as watching TV, working with a computer and more.
Doctors are the ones who have to educate their patients, especially the young ones, about proper nutrition - slowly, with appropriate portions, together with the family in a calm atmosphere.
