Launches A Campaign To Limit Salt Consumption

An installation in the form of a saltworks takes into account the amount of salt that Bulgaria could save if it chooses only one day with less salt.

A national cause for reducing salt consumption has started in Sofia. The initiative is entitled "For Bulgaria with less salt".

The campaign, organized by Sachi, is the result of a year-long study of nutrition practices and policies in the EU and Bulgaria.

The initiative started with the inclusion of an installation in the form of a saltworks in front of the Ministry of Health. It symbolizes the amount of salt that Bulgaria could save if it chooses only one day with less salt. Everyone can make their personal choice on the "Sachi Dobro za teb" Facebook page.

The saltworks collects information from all users on the social network who have chosen a day with less salt consumption. When saving a certain amount, the installation in the form of a salt pan will pour into the tank as much as Bulgaria says it will save. In this way you can see the amount of salt consumed each day and how much of it could be reduced.

Bulgaria ranks second in salt consumption in the world, according to statistics. According to experts, the campaign "For Bulgaria with less salt" is necessary because it helps to realize the benefits of moderate consumption.
