It is quite possible to reduce waist and hip circumference and keep your mood, say scientists from the National Cardiology Fund and the Council for Medical Research on National Health in Australia. Studies show that the best option for this is a carbohydrate diet. To this end, the consumption of meat and dairy products will have to be reduced.


The study included 106 overweight people aged between 24 and 64 years. Participants were divided into groups and subjected to various dietary regimes for a year. The first group followed a carbohydrate diet - bread, pasta and rice. The second group ate mainly meat and dairy products.


After eight weeks, all participants felt well, but after a year, those who consumed carbohydrate foods were in the mood. The participants in the meat diet were prone to aggression, and some of them were depressed.

Weight loss in both groups was the same - about 14 kg.

According to Australian scientists, carbohydrate and meat diets improve memory while maintaining the speed of thought processes, writes Reuters.
