Researchers have found that there is a direct link between frequent consumption of processed meat and certain cancers, such as pancreatic and colon cancer.
They analyzed data from 11 different studies involving more than 6,643 cases of pancreatic cancer.

The results are published in the British Journal of Cancer .
According to another study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consumption of 100 g of processed meat also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes by 19%.
3,800 cases of colon cancer a year can be prevented if less than 70 grams of processed meat is consumed per day, experts say.
