Consumption of 50 g of sausage increases the risk by 19%. The number grows with higher consumption.

Consumption of processed meat increases the risk of pancreatic cancer. Therefore, 50 g of processed meat per day in the form of sausages, bacon and others are enough, which is associated with a 19% higher risk. Consumption of 100 g of processed meat increases the risk by 38%, researchers say.

According to them, an increased risk of cancer due to the consumption of sausages is due to the presence of certain chemicals used in the process of meat processing. They lead to disorders in DNA and cells, which puts the development of cancer .

Researchers have found that there is a direct link between frequent consumption of processed meat and certain cancers, such as pancreatic and colon cancer.

They analyzed data from 11 different studies involving more than 6,643 cases of pancreatic cancer.

The data show that a large percentage of cancer sufferers have consumed regularly and in large quantities processed meat .

The results are published in the British Journal of Cancer .

According to another study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, consumption of 100 g of processed meat also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes by 19%.

3,800 cases of colon cancer a year can be prevented if less than 70 grams of processed meat is consumed per day, experts say.
