Proteins, Fats And Carbohydrates

Proteins, fats and carbohydrates are the main building blocks in the body that come with food. They are also a source of energy.

Food is a basic necessity for every living thing. It is a source of substances that support human life and health, as well as used as a building block and source of energy. The main substances taken with food are carbohydrates, fats and proteins. In addition to them, a number of other absolutely necessary for life ingredients such as water, mineral salts, vitamins, ballast substances and others enter the body with food.

Proteins are the main building block for cells in the body. They are made up of amino acids and make up a major part of the cytoplasm and nucleus. By their structure, most of the enzymes are proteins and regulate and catalyze metabolic processes in the cell. Hormones are another important group of proteins in the body. Another major contribution of proteins is the release of energy during their breakdown. Proteins with a richer amino acid content are those of animal origin, which is why they are considered to be more complete for humans than plant proteins.

Fat is another important element of food. Although their accumulation in the body is often a problem for women, their presence provides energy reserves. The breakdown of 1 g of fat releases 38.9 kJ (kilojoules) of energy. Body fat is made up of fatty acids and glycerol. Their main role is to build the fat tacon and are an extremely important component of cell membranes. Fats can also be of vegetable or animal origin.

Carbohydrates are also a source of energy. Like proteins, 17.14 kJ of energy is released from this building block when it is broken down in 1 year. Unlike fats, they break down quickly and release their energy easily. This is the reason why competitors are given carbohydrate food (sugar, honey, chocolate) and not fatty before a competition.
