  • It is necessary to drink 2 - 4 liters of fluids per day. Suitable are green tea, still water, compotes, various fruit drinks. The latter provide vitamins to the body, but in the first days of the disease only water is taken.
  • Chicken broths and light soups are useful, they restore the body's strength, charge it with energy, are easily absorbed and do not irritate the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Of the porridges, semolina is preferred, it has an antidiarrheal effect.
  • Rice has the same effect, so it is also welcome on the menu, and also cleanses the intestines.
  • Buckwheat is the next product that is useful in the presence of salmonellosis. It saturates the body with useful vitamins such as B, P, PP, trace elements - calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, iodine. Buckwheat has easily digestible carbohydrates, which give a feeling of satiety, normalize stomach acidity.
  • An important condition in the preparation of porridges is that they are boiled in water. Salt and fat should not be added so as not to irritate the intestines.
  • Mashed potatoes prepared with water are also allowed for consumption. It has an astringent effect and is able to stop diarrhea.

Cooked and baked dishes are added to the food menu gradually. They have a gentle effect on the gastrointestinal tract.

Dangerous and harmful products in salmonellosis

  • The consumption of smoked and marinated foods, canned food is not recommended, because they burden and irritate the intestines, they are poorly digested.
  • Pickles and spices, semi-finished products and fast food also have an adverse effect on the walls of the stomach, exacerbating the disease.
  • Pastries should be excluded from the menu as they relate to carbohydrates that lead to fermentation in the gut due to the presence of sugar.

  • Confectionery should also not be consumed. The sugar in them leads to fermentation in the intestines.
  • Do not eat oranges and tangerines, because they can cause allergies.
  • Flatulence is caused by fizzy drinks, so they are not desirable.

The transition to a normal diet is gradual and under medical supervision.
