Some types of fat have a brain effect similar to class A drugs, according to a study.
It turns out that foods that are high in saturated fat stimulate the reward-related area in the brain by influencing reward-seeking behavior. The behavior of narcozavisim is similar , which should increase the dose over time.
Saturated fats can be found in butter and lard, respectively, in foods such as cakes, biscuits , pastries , fatty pork, sausages, bacon. It is also found in oils such as palm and coconut.
The study was conducted in a laboratory and tested the effects of different types of fat on the brain .
It turns out that when consuming large amounts of saturated fats , the suppressed function of dopamine is also observed . It is a neurotransmitter responsible for motivation and the reward system in the brain .
According to a research team from the University of Montreal, Canada, this can prompt the brain to compensate for dopamine deficiency by stimulating the area responsible for reward .
They explain that the phenomenon is very similar to that observed among drug addicts, who over time must increase the dose taken to achieve the desired effect.
A similar thing happens with the consumption of saturated fats . People who overdo it often then compensate for the repressed sense of reward by consuming foods that are even higher in fat and sugar .
The data from the study are published in the journal Neuropsychopharmacology .
