Saturated Fats - Useful Or Harmful?

In this article, learn more about Saturated Fats - Useful Or Harmful?. Should we consume saturated fats and what are the recommended sources?.

The debate over healthy and unhealthy fats has been going on for a long time and it seems that it will not subside soon. According to a recent study, the advice to limit the consumption of butter , cream, cheese and other types of whole milk products is wrong.

British researchers believe that a diet rich in such products can actually reduce the risk of obesity . They add that the most natural and nutrient-rich foods, such as eggs , meat, fish, dairy products, nuts, seeds, olives, avocados, contain saturated fats .

The authors of the study also explain that saturated fats do not lead to the development of cardiovascular disease , and dairy products even protect the heart .

According to the British nutritionist Sarah Flower, these claims should not be a reason to consume any products containing saturated fat, such as chips and donuts.

She emphasizes that the data from the study relate to the consumption of "real" foods and healthy fats . Fats are extremely important for the whole body, including the brain .

Saturated fats are naturally solid at room temperature and are found in the largest amounts in animal products, such as meat and dairy products. Therefore, they are found in chocolate, cheese, cream, mayonnaise.

When consumed in excessive amounts, saturated fats can cause levels of "bad" cholesterol , which is one of the main culprits for the development of cardiovascular disease . They are also associated with cancer and obesity .

Experts explain that the consumption of meat from animals whose diet includes a high content of starch can lead to an unhealthy fat ratio .

Therefore, it is recommended to eat foods such as oily fish, nuts, seeds, along with many vegetables. In this way, the nutrients are used in a way that allows the body to function optimally.
