Consumption of a glass of soy milk, for example, provides the body with about 22 mg of isoflavones.
The presence of isoflavones in soy milk, green tea, tofu and peanuts may help lower blood pressure , according to a new study.
More than 5,000 people took part in the study. The analysis of the research team found that those of the volunteers who consumed large amounts of isoflavones in various forms every day had lower systolic blood pressure.
Consumption of a glass of soy milk , for example, provides the body with about 22 mg of isoflavones, and 100 g of roasted soybeans equals 130 mg of isoflavones, the researchers explain.
Isoflavones are chemical compounds, which have the ability to dilate blood vessels by increasing the release of nitric oxide - the main reason for lowering blood pressure.
The combination of products rich in isoflavones and a special diet can have a beneficial effect on blood pressure and the cardiovascular system , experts say.
It is recommended that the diet includes a high content of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low-fat products .
The study is expected to be published in a licensed journal soon. For now, the data are considered preliminary.
