Steatosis (obesity) Of The Liver

With a fatty liver, the diet should be rich in vitamins and minerals, consist of low-fat and low-calorie foods.

Fatty liver or hepatic steatosis refers to metabolic diseases. It is characterized by the deposition of large amounts of fat in the body.

The early stage of the disease usually does not cause any significant damage, and the typical symptoms are general weakness and fatigue, heaviness or pain in the right lower back. This is the main danger - steatosis can lead to more serious damage to the organ from inflammation to death of liver cells and their replacement with connective tissue with pathological transformation of the organ (cirrhosis).

If liver oil is detected at an early stage, then with proper treatment it is possible to improve the condition of the organ.

Hepatic steatosis is divided into alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Alcoholism develops in people who abuse alcohol, and obesity that is not related to alcohol intake is a consequence of excessive amounts of carbohydrates and fats consumed with the products.

Nutrition is essential in hepatic steatosis, so in the following lines we will learn which foods are good to include in the menu of people with fatty liver and which are not suitable for such a health problem.

Allowed foods for hepatic steatosis:

  • lean meats;
  • fresh fruit (except bananas, melons, watermelons, grapes);

  • fats containing omega 3 fatty acids;
  • white and red fish

  • low-fat dairy products;
  • products with low glycemic index;
  • bran flour.

In case of liver obesity, it is useful to take dietary fiber, which is able to effectively lower the level of cholesterol in the blood.

The main food should be light vegetable soups. Eat 4-6 times a day (every 2.5 - 3 hours).

Prohibited foods in hepatic steatosis:

  • all kinds of cooked and smoked sausages;
  • refined white sugar;
  • spicy spices (garlic, mustard, horseradish);

  • smoked meat;
  • various confectionery;
  • products containing animal fats;
  • fatty meats (especially pork and mutton);

Sample menu for fatty liver

  • Breakfast: a slice of wholemeal bread with diet cheese and two pineapple rings.
  • Lunch: a medium-sized glass of broth (or dietary vegetable soup), a portion of grilled fish, a fresh fruit (without any of the forbidden), a small portion of artichoke salad.
  • Afternoon snack: a portion of low-fat yogurt, a few cereal cookies.
  • Dinner: a glass of light homemade soup, boiled vegetables (carrots, beets, zucchini and others), a glass of fruit salad.

In addition to dieting, it is necessary to regularly monitor blood sugar and cholesterol levels. People suffering from fatty liver are forbidden to starve and overeat.
