The long-awaited summer has arrived. It's time to take care of your health and replenish your supply of vitamins and other biologically active substances. Berries will help you in this! The first strawberries have already appeared on the markets, and many more useful forest gifts are ahead.
Since ancient times, berries have been used to treat many ailments. Even 1,500 years ago, Chinese and Tibetan doctors used the fruits of the lemon tree as a tonic. And Indian tribes treated kidney diseases with cranberry juice.
Black currant is a champion among berries!
Scottish scientists named black currant the most useful berry. It, like no other fruit, contains a huge number of biologically active components. Only 25-30 berries are enough to replenish the body with vitamin C. In addition, currants are a source of vitamins P, B, E, A, carotene, as well as a number of organic acids, tannins, pectin and essential oils.
Currant fruits also contain minerals: mainly potassium and iron salts. And the leaves contain phytoncides - substances of plant origin that kill bacteria and fungi.
The anthocyanin pigment contained in black currant has a beneficial effect on the work of the heart, can prevent the development of diabetes and is also an oncoprotector.
Younger with blueberries
This forest berry has truly unique properties. Blueberry restores many functions of internal organs, and this berry also slows down the aging of the body.
In folk medicine, blueberries are used to treat inflammatory processes, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, and genitourinary diseases.
Pectins, which are part of blueberries, help remove toxins, heavy metals, and also normalize metabolism. Blueberries are also used externally to treat skin diseases: acne, burns, ulcers, and eczema.
Blueberry fruits have a beneficial effect on vision. Scientists have long established that blueberry extracts are very effective in the prevention of glaucoma and other eye diseases.
Healing lingonberry
Like currants, lingonberries are rich in anthocyanin pigments. In addition, lingonberries are rich in vitamin C, provitamin A, potassium, calcium, iron and phosphorus. The berry contains tannins, catechins, pectins and a number of organic acids that participate in various biochemical cycles of the body.
In traditional medicine, lingonberry fruits were used as an antiseptic, as well as for the treatment of kidney diseases: urolithiasis and cystitis. Cranberry juice is effective as a diuretic.
Cranberry is also used as a wound-healing, antipyretic and toning agent. It is indicated for vitamin deficiency, and lingonberry is also used to fight cholecystitis, dysentery, hypertension, diabetes and other diseases of internal organs.
Raspberries for health and beauty
Raspberries contain iron, copper and potassium salts, as well as tannins, fiber, vitamins C and PP (nicotinic acid, not to be confused with nicotine). Nicotinic acid dilates small vessels, normalizes blood pressure, improves the work of the heart muscle, and also relieves spasms.
Everyone probably knows about the healing properties of raspberries in the fight against colds. The antipyretic property of raspberries is due to the presence of salicylic acid in its composition. And raspberry extracts have anti-aging properties and are used in the preparation of a number of cosmetics.
In addition, raspberry is the only berry that retains all its properties after heat treatment.
Cranberry for healthy kidneys and more
Cranberry perfectly copes with colds, and also helps fight the manifestations of vitamin deficiency. Cranberries contain many antioxidants that protect cells from the destructive effects of free radicals.
Studies show that 1.5 glasses of cranberry juice a day can reduce the risk of exacerbation of cystitis by two times! Cranberry juice cleanses the kidneys, and also has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Therefore, cranberry is considered a natural antibiotic.
