We hear so often about the benefits of seafood that it is no longer in doubt. Many supporters of proper nutrition actively include fish in their daily diet, including in the form of sushi or rolls. And can such a diet harm? Let's try to figure it out.
BenefitLet's say right away - you can and should eat sushi and rolls. The ingredients used in these dishes are absolutely beneficial. Subject to one small condition: moderate consumption. If you can stop in time and leave the table with a feeling of lightness (as recommended by experts), then everything is in order. After all, sushi and rolls include:
fish First of all, it is valuable for its high content of omega-3 fatty acids, which have a complex effect on the body. They help lower cholesterol levels, have a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system, reduce the risk of blood clots, increase calcium absorption, etc. You can list them for a long time, without forgetting that with regular use of omega-3 acids, the condition of the skin and hair improves. In addition, fish contains phosphorus, which is necessary for bones and teeth, supports the normal functioning of the nervous system.
Fig. It is useful for the body fiber and the absence of gluten, which can cause allergies. Rice contains almost all B vitamins, as well as elements of ascorbic acid, PP, H and trace elements.
Algae. Calcium, magnesium, potassium, iodine, sodium, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, C, D, E, R, PP, enzymes, alginic acid, polyunsaturated fatty acids, polysaccharides... All this is contained in algae, but the main thing is, of course, iodine, which is necessary for the normal functioning of the thyroid gland.
wasabi This specific seasoning is called both "Japanese horseradish" and "Japanese mustard", but in its origin it is close to cabbage. Wasabi has a beneficial effect on the body, helps to cope with respiratory diseases, the Japanese use wasabi as part of cancer therapy.
Damage
As you know, excessive use of even the most useful products can have the opposite effect. This is also true in relation to Japanese cuisine.
Fish. It has already been established that red fish accumulates methylmercury, a compound dangerous to health. It is formed in the ocean of mercury as a result of the activity of bacteria. So sushi lovers are advised to take dishes with scallops, squid and crabs - they least of all accumulate this harmful compound. In addition, raw fish used in sushi and rolls may contain helminths.
Fig. An excess of rice is an excess of carbohydrates, and probably everyone knows about the consequences. However, eating a large amount of rice carries another danger - white rice causes constipation.
Algae. The benefit of iodine, which we mentioned above, with excessive use can turn into its opposite. If an excess of iodine is formed in the body, it can lead, firstly, to allergies, and secondly, to disturbances in the work of the thyroid gland, which regulates metabolic processes in the body.
wasabi Be careful if you have problems with the heart and blood vessels: excessive consumption of wasabi can lead to an increase in blood pressure.
Moderation is the key to a healthy diet, and this fully applies to eating Japanese cuisine. And you can read about another nutrition system in which the emphasis is on fish consumption in the article "What is the Scandinavian diet and why everyone is talking about it."
