By consuming too much sugar, vitamins and minerals important to the body cannot be absorbed.
A large amount of sugar can slow down the process of absorbing important minerals and vitamins.
Magnesium is extremely important because every body needs it. It is responsible for creating proteins , regulating muscle and nerve function, building bones and synthesizing DNA. When there is an increase in blood glucose caused by consuming too much sugar, the magnesium in the body decreases.
The amount of vitamin C also begins to decrease when a higher dose of sugar is taken. Glucose and vitamin use the same vehicle in the body, which means that they compete in the blood. In principle, vitamin C cannot be synthesized on its own, and when cells do not receive enough of it, the function of the immune system is disrupted and tissue repair is slowed down .
In addition to vitamin C, every cell in the body contains a vitamin D receptor, important for all bodily functions, including maintaining healthy bones and joints, but also for strong immunity. When sugar is consumed in larger quantities, the production of an enzyme that breaks down vitamin D increases. At the same time, the function of another enzyme, which is necessary for the synthesis of the vitamin, is disrupted. Its deficiency is associated with inflammation, dementia and even some cancers.
Consumption of large amounts of refined sugars can also lead to the destruction of B complex vitamins . When eating foods containing white sugar, the body needs extra B vitamins to be able to convert it into energy.
Experts say that more glucose is associated with increased calcium excretion by the kidneys, and the effect can cause stones in them. Calcium is important for the functions of the nervous system , muscles and bones.
Excessive sugar can cause type 2 diabetes, increased risk of obesity , heart problems, cell aging, cancer, liver disease and more.
