The spleen is an elongated organ that is located in the upper left part of the abdominal cavity, behind the stomach. Although it is not among the vital organs, its role is not insignificant for the human body.

The functions that the spleen performs are immune, filtering and hematopoietic. In addition, it is actively involved in metabolism. The diaphragm, pancreas, colon and left kidney are located next to each other.

The spleen is also tasked with controlling the quality of blood circulation in the body.

Useful products for the spleen

  • Nuts. They contain minerals and trace elements capable of activating the hematopoietic functions of the body.
  • Fatty fish. Thanks to the taurine and fatty acids contained in it, the blood pressure is normalized.
  • Cabbage. It is rich in folic acid, responsible for the synthesis of new blood cells. Vitamin P in vegetables strengthens blood vessels, and vitamin K is important for blood clotting.
  • Liver. It is a source of iron, the deficiency of which can lead to lower hemoglobin levels and anemia. This by-product also contains heparin - it is a prophylaxis against thrombosis and myocardial infarction.
  • Citrus fruits. They contain a large amount of vitamin C, which is responsible for the absorption of iron. In addition, the absorption of vitamin A, along with organic acids and fiber, fights elevated blood sugar levels and lowers cholesterol.
  • Apples. The presence of pectins in them regulates blood sugar levels, which adversely affects the spleen.
  • Avocado. It is able to bind excess cholesterol, which can clog the hematopoietic ducts of the spleen.
  • Beets. Natural hematopoietic agent. Stimulates the activity of the body, strengthens the walls of blood vessels. It is good to use with carrots, cabbage or tomatoes.
  • Honey. Normalizes the functions of the spleen, is important for the production of blood cells.
  • Nar. Activates the hematopoietic function of the organ.

Harmful to the spleen products

  • Fat. Their use in large quantities can lead to blockage of calcium, which is needed in the synthesis of new erythrocytes.
  • Fried products. The substances contained in them change the composition of the blood. As a result, her spleen has to work in emergency mode, purifying the blood of deformed cells.
  • Alcohol. It causes cell destruction and dehydration. It also stops the spleen from working, preventing the production of new red blood cells.
  • Preservatives. As a result of their intake through various food products, sparingly soluble compounds are formed, which can fill the blood vessels and lead to ischemia.
