A new trend is coming to replace vegetarianism and veganism, raw food and the paleo diet. His name is paganism . Paganism , also known as paganism , is one of the latest trends in the world of weight loss. Basically, it's a mix of veganism and the paleo diet.
For those not in the know: the paleo diet (aka paleolithic diet, aka stone age diet) is based on the principle that modern humans should eat the same way our caveman ancestors did before the invention of agriculture. That is, to eat only natural organic food, no additives and impurities.
With veganism, everything is probably clear: this nutritional principle is based exclusively on products of plant origin. That is, no eggs, milk, cheese and other joys of life.
Paganism combines the basic principles of these two food systems. It would seem that the paleo diet and veganism are not at all similar, since with paleo you can safely eat meat and fish. Nevertheless, an interesting mix was obtained, which in Western countries is considered an example of a balanced healthy diet.
The fact is that both veganism and the paleo diet exclude the consumption of products that have been obtained industrially or have undergone appropriate processing. The basis of the vegan diet is unprocessed fruits and vegetables, mushrooms, nuts, seeds, oils - this set is borrowed from vegans. At the same time, supporters of paganism can consume a small amount of low-fat protein food, which includes eggs, light meat and seafood. Paganism adopted this principle from the paleo diet.
Some confuse Paganism with the Pegano Diet , named after the physician John Pegano . However, this is a completely different nutritional system that was developed specifically for those who suffer from psoriasis. The diet involves strict control over the diet, in particular over the acid-alkaline balance in the body. Meat, fish and some vegetables and fruits are almost completely excluded from it.
Despite the fact that paganism is considered a diet, the diet of such a diet is quite diverse and rich in nutrients. The body receives a sufficient amount of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other substances it needs.
If you decide to try being vegan , include vegetables and fruits, cereals, lean beef and poultry, fish and eggs in your diet. If everything is clear with fruits and vegetables, difficulties may arise with meat and fish. The fact is that the fish must be caught in open water, and the livestock is raised without growth hormones and antibiotics. You will have to spend a lot of time and effort to get such products for your diet.
Paganism can be characterized by the 5-4-3-2-1 principle. This rule establishes how many portions of different foods can be eaten during the day. A portion consists of 100 grams of product.
5 servings - any vegetables, except root crops.
4 portions - fruits and cereals.
3 portions - protein products: lean beef, eggs, fish, chicken, legumes.
2 portions - fats: vegetable oils, avocado, nuts.
1 portion - alternative milk: soy, nut, coconut.
Sugar and all products containing it, dairy products, products made from wheat and wheat flour, as well as semi-finished products should be completely excluded from the diet.
But not everything is so bad: paganism allows 2 servings of alcohol and desserts per week. And once a week you can have a "loading" day and eat whatever you want.
In addition, one should not forget about the drinking regime. It is necessary to drink a sufficient amount of water - at least 1-1.5 liters of water. Like any other diet, veganism has its pros and cons despite the fact that this diet was invented by a doctor. So, for the first time, the principle of paganism was mentioned in 2014 by Mark Hyman, a doctor and author of bestselling books on healthy eating. He himself began to follow a similar diet and described all the details in his personal blog.
The pros include the fact that Peganism is similar to the Mediterranean diet, which is considered one of the healthiest in the world. The list of permitted products includes low-fat types of meat and poultry, vegetables and fruits, healthy fats (avocado, nuts, vegetable oils). All these products are necessary for the body to function normally.
However, veganism also has its drawbacks: there are very few carbohydrates in the diet. Ideally, they should be at least 50%, but in paganism , meals are distributed in such a way that it is not always possible to adhere to this norm. As a result, a person can feel tired and broken, face depression and lack of energy, suffer from headaches.
The body perceives such restrictions as stress and includes the "energy conservation" mode, which can have a negative impact on the endocrine system. And the refusal of dairy products can cause a lack of vitamin D and calcium and even lead to bone demineralization and osteoporosis.
