Which Foods To Avoid With High Cholesterol?

Weight gain, cholesterol and triglycerides require a measured caloric intake. Avoid sugary foods and fatty meats.

 

High blood cholesterol is known to be dangerous because it significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. It can be reduced by building a healthy diet , which should be not just a short-term diet, but a eating style .

 


 

Weight gain, cholesterol and triglycerides require a low calorie diet. Which foods should be  restricted from the menu to normalize cholesterol and weight:

  • sugar and confectionery - chocolate, candy, jam, ice cream;
  • sweet drinks - carbonated soft drinks, syrups and nectars;
  • alcoholic beverages - including beer (1 g of alcohol has an average of 7 calories);
  • bacon, lard, butter, margarine, cream - including palm and coconut oils, nut oil;
  • sausages and fatty meats (pork);
  • cheese, yellow cheese ;
  • bread, pasta and pasta made from white flour ;
  • eggs - it is recommended to consume up to 2 per week, preferably without yolk;
  • offal - once every 15 days.

 

 

Which foods are recommended:

  • vegetable oils (20-30 g per day) - corn, sunflower oil and olive oil;
  • lean red meat, poultry (without skin) - roasted or cooked, do not fry; suitable beef and chicken, turkey;
  • dairy products - skimmed or low-fat fresh milk, yogurt, white cheese with up to 20% fat, cottage cheese, light cheeses (up to 30 g per day);
  • fish - all kinds, 2-3 times a week;
  • fruits and vegetables - raw, cooked or baked;
  • products rich in fiber and pectin - wholemeal bread and pasta, brown (unpeeled) rice, apples;
  • nuts - moderate.
