Whole Fruit Against Fruit Juice - What Is A Useful Choice?

Freshly squeezed fruit juice has little fiber and a lot of sugar. Nutritionists advise to dilute it before consumption.

Fruit juice , which many people find useful, turns out to be almost as harmful as carbonated drinks.
 
Fruit juice contains little fiber and a lot of sugar , which does more harm than good.
 
Nutritionist Susan Jeb of the University of Cambridge explains that the juice does not have the same nutritional value as the whole fruit and contains as much sugar as some classic sweetened drinks. The nutritionist's advice is to prefer the whole fruit to its juice, and if juice is still consumed, it should be diluted. 
 
Prof. Popkin of the University of North Carolina USA is of the same opinion. He is even a little more extreme, saying that fruit juices and smoothies are the "new danger". Popkin explains that the consumption of whole fruits satisfies us to a much greater extent than the juice of them, thus affecting the overall food intake. 
 
The opinion of other experts is similar. According to most of them, whether freshly squeezed or packaged, fruit juice should not be consumed. One glass of 250 ml juice contains an amount of sugar equal to 10 teaspoons, even without the addition of sweetener. The juice does not contain any fiber to saturate.

And here is the difference in calories between fruit and its juice and some sweetened drinks:
  • 1 glass of fresh orange juice: 110 calories - 1 orange: 62.9 calories;
  • 1 glass of fresh apple juice: 120 calories - 1 apple: 87.9 calories;
  • 1 carbonated drink: 138 calories;
  • 1 cup strawberry milkshake: 198 calories.
