With A Little Chocolate For Breakfast You Lose Weight!

Consumption of chocolate cake, as part of a balanced breakfast containing 600 calories and including protein and carbohydrates, helps long-term weight loss.

Consumption of chocolate or cake, as part of a balanced breakfast that includes protein and carbohydrates, helps to lose weight, scientists from the University of Tel Aviv found.

The key to losing weight lies in satisfying your hunger in the morning, when your metabolism is active and we are better able to burn extra calories, says lead researcher Prof. Daniela Jakubovic.

Avoiding the consumption of sweets can lead to psychological dependence on these foods, experts say. According to them, adding dessert to breakfast improves appetite control and prevents unnecessary eating for the rest of the day.

The results of the study show that participants who add biscuits, cake or some chocolate to their breakfast lose about 18 kg more than people who avoid eating sweets. In addition, overweight people retain their weight for a long period of time, the researchers found.

A complete morning diet provides energy for daily activities, supports brain function and stimulates metabolism, which contributes to weight loss and weight maintenance.

Breakfast is important for regulating the hormone ghrelin, which has the ability to increase appetite, explains Prof. Daniela Jakubovic.

193 people participated in the study. Volunteers are divided into two groups with identical caloric intake - men consume 1600 calories a day and women - 1400.

The first group follows a low-carbohydrate diet, eating 300 calories at breakfast. The morning meal of the second group includes the intake of 600 calories through foods rich in protein and carbohydrates, including dessert.

At week 16, the researchers found that participants in both groups lost an average of about 15 kg. But, at the end of the study, 16 weeks later, the results changed dramatically. Volunteers on a low-carbohydrate diet regained about 10 kg, and participants consuming a rich and complete breakfast lost another approximately 7 kg.

Extremely restrictive weight loss regimens, which completely exclude the consumption of sweets and carbohydrates, are initially effective, but do not have a long-term effect on weight loss, experts explain.

The results were published in the journal Steroids .
