Foods rich in potassium, magnesium, zinc, folic acid and omega-3 fatty acids can be consumed to improve hearing.
According to researchers, there are some foods that can have a beneficial effect on hearing . Here they are.
Potassium regulates body fluids. It is also important for hearing health because there is fluid in the inner ear. It is the part of the ear that converts noise into impulses that the brain interprets as sound. Therefore, you should eat more foods that are rich in potassium. These are bananas, avocados, potatoes, spinach, melons, milk, oranges, apricots, tomatoes and yogurt.
Studies show that folic acid is important for the body's ability to generate new cells . Older people who have low levels of folic acid are more likely to develop a residue associated with hearing loss. Folic acid slows hearing loss, and it can be found in foods such as meat, asparagus, broccoli and spinach.
Zinc strengthens the immune system and is responsible for cell growth and rapid wound healing. It is also useful to prevent germs that can cause ear infections. Some of the foods in which zinc can be found are: chicken and pork, cashews, almonds, peanuts, beans, peas, lentils, oysters, dark chocolate, oats, raisins, dried blueberries and coconut flakes.
People who take magnesium are protected from hearing loss, studies show. According to researchers, the reason is in the ability of magnesium to fight the harmful effects of free radicals , as it protects the inner ear. Its deficiency can cause constriction of blood vessels and as a result lack of oxygen. Foods that contain magnesium are: fruits and vegetables such as bananas, artichokes, potatoes, spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, as well as black beans and brown rice.
A study found that people who ate foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids were 42% less likely to age-related hearing loss . The food with the highest acid content is fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel and herring.
