Acacia honey is one of the most valuable types of honey. From its very name it is clear that it is collected from acacia - white or yellow, depending on the color of the product. The one made of yellow acacia has a light yellow color, and the one made of white acacia is practically colorless. It is characterized by a light aroma of flowers and a mild taste, it does not feel the honey bitterness, which is characteristic of that of buckwheat or chestnuts, for example.
One of the distinguishing properties of acacia honey is its ability to be stored for a long time in a liquid state, starting to become sugary about a year after its collection.
Due to the high content of fructose, the product is easily absorbed by the body and is suitable for children and diabetics. It is allowed for diabetics because the hormone insulin is not required for its processing. It does not cause allergies, it contains a lot of carotene and enzymes that contribute to better digestion.
When it comes to the composition and nutritional properties of the product, we can not fail to mention that the content of fructose (fruit sugar) is 40.35% and that of sucrose - 35.98%. This makes it the best source of fruit sugar not only after different types of honey, but also after other sweet products. Easy absorption is also due to fructose.
Acacia honey is characterized by a number of healing properties. Its antiseptics are used in the treatment of conjunctivitis and other eye diseases, also in neurodermatitis and eczema, diseases of the oral cavity (gingivitis periodontitis). In these cases it is applied externally in the form of aqueous solutions and ointments.
Regular consumption of acacia honey helps to lower blood pressure, has a mild sedative effect and has a beneficial effect on mental disorders and nervous crises. If you are engaged in mental work, you are under stress, you are in front of the computer for a long time, and then it is difficult for you to fall asleep, then acacia honey will help you.
It is recommended for insomnia, various gastrointestinal diseases, has a healing effect on gastritis, ulcers, as well as kidney and liver problems, recharges well with energy and restores strength.
However, the list is long ... The product also helps to cleanse the liver. In problems of the genitourinary system, it acts as a diuretic and as an antimicrobial agent, so it is often defined as a natural antibiotic. It is also used for respiratory problems, for example, for inhalations in the treatment of rhinitis, tracheitis, laryngitis, bronchitis. It is also useful in bronchial asthma.
If you take 50 grams of acacia honey every day for 1-2 months, the general condition of the body and tone will improve, the composition of the blood will be normalized and the level of hemoglobin will increase.
In addition to being a source of easily digestible carbohydrates (glucose and fructose), acacia honey contains an invaluable and even unique complex of vitamins and trace elements, organic acids and antibacterial compounds, biogenic stimulants and minerals. This wealth explains the healing properties of the product and ranks it among the unique natural medicines that act on the human body in a unique way.
Acacia honey is a real deposit of trace elements such as: manganese, chromium, silicon, lithium, copper. It also contains nickel, tin, aluminum, lead, osmium, zinc, boron and others. Minerals are represented by salts of sodium, calcium, iodine, magnesium, sulfur, iron, phosphorus, chlorine. It is noteworthy that their amount practically corresponds to the content in human blood. The composition of this honey also includes organic acids: malic, citric, tartaric, lactic and oxalic.
We can't miss the vitamins either. If you have acacia honey on your menu, your body will not be deficient in vitamins C (2 mg), B2 (0.5 mg) and PP (0.2 mg). Recent studies show that the product is also a deposit of other vitamins: A (carotene), B6 (pyridoxine), B5 (pantothenic acid), H (biotin), B9 (folic acid), vitamins E and K.
Acacia honey is used in folk medicine, cooking, cosmetics and other areas of life.
Along with its countless useful and healing properties, honey has its contraindications.
We have already said that it is rich in nutrients and is very high in calories. 79% of it are easily digestible carbohydrates, so the restrictions on the daily intake are completely normal and natural. For an adult the norm is 100 grams, and for children - 30 - 40 grams. It should be noted that the inclusion of honey in the children's menu should be very careful, because the immunity and metabolic processes of adolescents may be unprepared to meet the product.
For medicinal purposes, it is recommended that acacia honey (as well as other species) be used in dissolved form. This facilitates the entry of active substances into the body - first in the blood, then in the cells and tissues, where their useful work for our health continues. Such treatment should be prescribed with an individual approach to each patient, taking into account the dosage. Failure to comply with the conditions could lead to adverse effects of easily digestible carbohydrates (which are abundant in honey) on the autonomic nervous system and overall metabolism.
