Artificial Sweeteners Accelerate Obesity?

Sucralose is an artificial sweetener 1000 times sweeter than sucrose. Scientists reveal the danger of accelerated obesity after taking it.

Many people prefer low-calorie sweeteners as a healthier alternative to refined white sugar. 
 
However, a study from the beginning of 2017 reveals how the intake of such sugar substitutes can stimulate and accelerate the accumulation of fat, especially in people who are already overweight.
 
Researchers at George Washington University, led by Dr. Sabiasachi Sen, analyzed the effects of one of the most modern sweeteners, sucralose . 
 
Sucralose, known in the European Union as the food supplement E955, is characterized by the presence of 0 calories and sweetness up to 1000 times stronger than sucrose, 650 times stronger than sugar, three times stronger than aspartame and twice as strong as saccharin. It is used in diet drinks, packaged sweeteners for tea and coffee, sugar-free chewing gum, cereals, pastries and even salad dressings.
 
Scientists have made two discoveries. The first was that frequent intake of sucralose leads to increased expression (synthetic activity) of genes associated with the onset of inflammatory processes and fat production. The second finding was that when stem cells were exposed to even minimal amounts of sucralose, they began to accumulate significantly more fat.
 
 
Subsequent studies in volunteers have shown that the intake of low-calorie sweeteners leads to increased transport of glucose to many cell types in the body, including hepatocytes - liver cells. Shortly afterwards, the affected cells show overexpression of genes involved in fat processing and deposition. This leads to deregulation of the metabolism in favor of the accumulation of fat in and around the affected cells and acceleration of obesity.
 
Researchers say that these effects are dangerous for all consumers of sucralose, but endanger mostly people with impaired glucose balance and suffering from prediabetes and obesity.
