Ascites

It is good to reduce the amount of fluids, the food should be porridge and nuts, and the fruits dried.

Ascites (also known as dropsy) is an accumulation of fluid in the peritoneum (abdominal cavity). This health problem leads to serious diseases such as heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, various malignant neoplasms. Food is important in ascites, so let's see what can and which products are not suitable for consumption.

Suitable foods for ascites (dropsy)

Soups should be replaced with plain broth made from chicken (without skin), rabbit or tender beef. You can also cook it from fish, mushrooms or olives. It is allowed to add parsley, celery, cinnamon, ginger, fennel. These spices help to remove blockages in the body, many of them have a beneficial effect directly on the liver.

Porridge and cereals should be replaced by nuts (especially hazelnuts and walnuts), also peanuts. Their combination with honey is very useful.

Of the sweets, only home-made jams and jellies are recommended.

All types of fruit are allowed, but only in the dried state.

As for the amount of fluid, it should not be more than 1 liter per day.

Food should be boiled or steamed and must be salt-free.

Harmful and dangerous food products for ascites:

  • horseradish, spinach, sorrel, garlic, onion;
  • bean cultures;
  • turnips and radishes;
  • cabbage (all varieties);
  • alcoholic beverages, coffee and all products containing caffeine;
  • spicy, greasy, fried, salty and sour foods;
  • freshly baked bread and pasta from butter and puff pastry;
  • soups of fatty broths;
  • eggs should be limited to a maximum of 3 per week, prepared in the form of steamed omelet or boiled;
  • cheeses - hard salty or spicy types;
  • all kinds of canned and semi-finished products;
  • all cereal porridges which are difficult to digest;

These products contribute to the formation of toxins in the body or interfere with the kidneys and heart, stomach, so that excess fluid can not be expelled from the body, but on the contrary - remains in it.
