Bad Habits: What Not To Do Immediately After Eating

Eat - you can sleep. Of course, you can, but it’s better to walk a little (after 30 minutes) or at least sit, so that the body can more easily cope with the digestion of food. What else is better not to do immediately after eating to feel better? Let's talk!

1. Sleep

As we already mentioned, sleeping after eating is not worth it (although at times the temptation is too great). Firstly, you are unlikely to be able to quickly and calmly fall asleep. Secondly, after waking up, you will have an unpleasant feeling of heartburn. Thirdly, heaviness in the stomach is definitely unavoidable. All due to the fact that gastric juice enters the esophagus when we lie down. Better read for an hour or two, then lie down to rest.

2. Exercise

You are unlikely to want to run or shake the press with a full stomach - it's easy to guess that hiccups and other unpleasant incidents are provided. Before training, you should not eat too much (proteins and slow carbohydrates), best 2 hours before vigorous exercise or a long run.

3. Smoking

Another proof that smoking is a bad habit. If a person decides to smoke after dinner or another meal, nicotine, which enters the bloodstream, disrupts the digestive tract and impairs the digestibility of food. As a result, we get much less useful trace elements than we could - and this is at the same time that we harm our lungs. If you still find it difficult to give up cigarettes (although you will definitely succeed!), Try not to smoke for at least 30-40 minutes after eating.

4. Take a hot bath

If at first glance the connection between a hot bath and digestion is not so strong, then think about it: hot water stimulates blood flow to the surfaces of the body. As a result, the blood flow to the stomach decreases, thereby causing a delay in digestion. Better wait a few hours.

5. Eat fruit

If the meal cannot be washed down, it must be at least “finished” with fruit, you might think. But fruits after eating do not improve, but worsen digestion - acids provoke the process of fermentation in the stomach, which causes an unpleasant feeling of heartburn and heaviness. So it's better to wait with fruit.

6. Walk

You can’t sleep, so you need to walk after eating - at the same time you can burn a few calories. But here everything is also not so simple - the body wants to rest while it is busy with such an important matter as digesting food. So give yourself time - relax with a book or talk with your family for half an hour. And then you can walk.
