Banana - Causes Or Relieves Constipation?

Yellow bananas improve constipation, but affect different people differently. Green bananas are baked because they contain starch.

Research shows that moderate consumption of bananas improves the health of the digestive system. They have prebiotic effects as they nourish the intestinal bacteria that help in the proper digestion of food.

Experts say that bananas are rich in fiber and nutrients that protect the intestinal lining and relieve constipation. They help the small intestine to function better and improve digestion .

In a medium-sized banana, a person gets up to 3 grams of fiber, which is equal to about 10% of the daily recommended intake. However, it is mandatory to drink plenty of water when eating bananas, as excessive consumption of fiber can lead to blockage of intestinal function.

Bananas are natural antacids that soothe upset stomachs. They are rich in fructooligosaccharide , which prevents the fermentation of bananas in the intestinal tract. This carbohydrate improves digestion and acts as a mild laxative to relieve and prevent constipation. It is found mainly in ripe yellow bananas.

On the other hand, greener bananas are unripe and can cause constipation because they are high in starch, which makes it difficult to digest food. As the fruit ripens, the amount of starch decreases and turns into sugars. Diabetics should consult their dietitian before consuming them.

Unripe bananas are considered an aid in diarrhea in children and adults. These properties are due to the high starch content.

Bananas are a food that relieves constipation in some people and the opposite in others. The fruit does not work in the same way, but if constipation is improved by bananas, then it should be consumed more regularly. If the toilet is irregular because of them, their consumption should be limited.

However, bananas have other health benefits such as protection against ulcers, stomach aches and cardiovascular disease . One banana a day keeps blood pressure at normal levels. Potassium in the fruit strengthens bones and improves vision.
