Consumption of coffee and caffeinated beverages can increase the skills for processing information .

A new study that is part of the Cognitive Behavior Research Program found that caffeine helps better, fine-tune and detail information.

For this purpose, 36 volunteers take part. They are divided into several groups, given different doses of caffeine supplements in the form of capsules. The doses are as follows: 100 mg, 200 mg, 400 mg and placebo.

Volunteers were then provided with texts to review and edit for grammatical and stylistic errors in 5 minutes.

The results show that you take a higher doseCaffeine is much easier to cope with the task and for a specific time.
The placebo group solves the tasks the slowest for a time longer than the set time.

The research team is looking forward to further research, including tracking the effects of caffeine on memory.

 


The results and data from the study are published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology .

Experts remind that you should not overdo the consumption of caffeine because of the risk of side effects. Safe amounts of caffeine are 300-500 mg, they added.

The average content of caffeine in a cup of coffee is between 40 and 85 mg, depending on the method of preparation, for a cup of tea - between 20 and 40 mg for different types, and in cocoa- containing drinks - less than 10 mg.
