Caries

As a prophylaxis, to prevent the appearance and to get rid of the unpleasant problem, it is necessary to eat products that contain fluoride, calcium and vitamin D.

Caries is a disease of the teeth in which the hard tissues gradually soften and break down and a cavity is formed. The causes of this problem are various, some of them are: heredity, smoking, poor hygiene, poor nutrition, insufficient intake of raw fruits and vegetables (they help to remove food residues on the teeth, namely these residues soften hard tissues during their decomposition) and others.

Useful products for tooth decay

To prevent the appearance and to get rid of the unpleasant problem, it is necessary to eat products that contain fluoride, calcium and vitamin D. All these elements are responsible for the healthy structure of the tooth, for its growth and preservation. Calcium in combination with fluoride helps strengthen the tooth bone. Indispensable helpers for better absorption of calcium are vitamin D and phosphorus. That's why you need to eat more:

  • yogurt products: cottage cheese, sour cream, liquid cream, butter, kefir, yogurt, various cheeses (including melted);
  • nuts: walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts;
  • legumes: beans, peas;
  • mustard seed;
  • hen eggs;
  • liver: pork and beef;
  • seafood and fish: sea bass, salmon, mullet, cod, mackerel, tuna, hake, oysters, flounder, crabs, shrimp, squid;
  • hard fresh vegetables and fruits (help clean teeth from accumulated food): cucumbers, cabbage, radishes, carrots, apples, pears.

Harmful food products in caries:

  • sugar, chocolate (especially milk), jam, marmalades, fillings, donuts and other confectionery in large quantities (if you constantly feel the need to eat something sweet, this is a sign that the body does not receive the necessary amount of calcium, and the lack of this element is the most common cause of caries);
  • salt and coffee - at first glance, these are products of different categories, but they are united by their ability to interfere with the absorption of useful vitamins and minerals;
  • soft and dry food - the probability of it remaining on the teeth is huge;
  • sweet drinks, especially carbonated (carbonated destroys tooth enamel);
  • dry mixtures of nuts and fruits;
  • water of poor quality.
