Weaning a baby is a difficult time. Feeding should begin gradually after the 6th month and by the end of the first year the baby should receive a variety of foods: fruits, vegetables and meat in the form of purees and porridges, which requires little chewing. This is a transitional food because it is not pureed and mushy, as in infants, but it is not difficult to digest, as in adults.

After the age of 3, it is replaced by a common one.

The difference between the dishes of adults and those of babies consists mainly in the consistency and size of the particles. The anatomical and physiological features of children from 1 to 3 years allow good absorption of transitional food. In one year they have an average of about 8 to 10 teeth, the neuro-reflex and chemical phases of digestion are improved, the chewing apparatus is strengthened, taste perceptions are developed and habits for proper nutrition are developed. During this period, children gradually show preferences for some products.

In the second year, they begin to eat like adults. Then their energy needs to increase and they have to consume about 1300 kcal (kilocalories) per day. Include 40 grams of protein, 43 grams of fat, and 180 grams of carbohydrates on the menu every day. Feeding is every 4 hours. This ensures complete emptying of the stomach and is important for the good appetite of the child. The amount should be in accordance with the physiological capabilities of the gastrointestinal tract and the volume of the stomach. For children from 1 to 1 ½ year of age it is 300 - 350 milliliters, and for children from 1 ½ to 3 years - 350 to 400 milliliters. The menu should include fruits and vegetables, milk and dairy products such as cheese, yellow cheese, and cottage cheese, and the amount of sugar, candy, and chocolate should be limited. 4 - 5 times a week to eat chicken and beef, lean pork, and fish.

 

After the 3rd year, the child's diet is almost indistinguishable from that of adults.

It must be deliciously prepared and warmed. At this age, the child becomes accustomed to hygiene and eating habits. The calm and pleasant atmosphere, as well as the serving of products tailored to the individual taste of the child, are of great importance for making and maintaining a good appetite at this age.

In recent years, free eating is widely practiced, in which the diet is mandatory hours of consumption and the intervals between them, the composition of the products offered, but not their quantity.
