Cocoa Is Good For The Colon

Moderate consumption of high-cocoa chocolate helps reduce the risk of colon cancer, scientists say.

Consumption of products high in cocoa reduces the risk of colon cancer, according to a study by the Institute of Science and Technology Institute of Food and Nutrition in Spain.

From the results of an experiment, the team of Dr. Maria Ariba came to the conclusion that daily consumption of cocoa has a counteracting effect on the carcinogen azoxymethane. It is associated with intestinal cancer.

However, experts warn that over-consumption of chocolate can have the opposite effect on health, including the colon, and increase the risk of disease due to its high fat content.

A healthy diet rich in fiber and maintaining moderate physical activity are the most beneficial measures for maintaining colon health.

The results are published in Molecular Nutrition and Food Research .
