Cruciferous vegetables help protect against breast cancer because they contain glucosinolates, which prevent the onset and spread of cancer.

According to a study, women who eat cruciferous vegetables have a lower risk of breast cancer. The reason is that they contain glucosinolates , natural substances that are broken down during cutting, cooking, chewing and digestion into active compounds called isothiocyanates and indoles. The compounds prevent cancer and prevent it from growing and spreading.


In animal studies, these compounds have suppressed not only breast cancer, but also cancer of the lung, stomach, bladder, colon and liver. The researchers conducted a study over a period of 10 years between 2007 and 2017. They studied 1,485 women who had breast cancer and 1,506 without the disease. Using a detailed questionnaire on the frequency of meals, the researchers determined the amount of cruciferous vegetables that participants should consume. They found that those with breast cancer tended to eat fewer cruciferous vegetables.


Those who ate the most cruciferous vegetables were found to have a 62% lower risk of death from breast cancer and a 35% lower chance of recurrence than those who consumed the disease . a small amount of vegetables. Those who were healthy were less likely to get the disease.


In addition to glucosinolates, cruciferous vegetables are high in fiber, vitamin C, E, K, folate , antioxidants and minerals. Among the most common cruciferous vegetables are broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, arugula, turnips and radishes.


Based on studies cruciferous vegetables help prevent cancer of the mammary glands . Studies also show that the consumption of these vegetables is essential for women. It is believed that those who consume large amounts of cruciferous vegetables look younger and healthier.
