Diet №4 - In Chronic Intestinal Diseases

Purpose: in exacerbation of chronic intestinal diseases accompanied by acute diarrhea. Purpose of the diet: to provide nutrition in conditions of impaired digestion, to reduce inflammation, fermentation

Purpose : in exacerbation of chronic intestinal diseases accompanied by acute diarrhea.

Purpose of the diet : to provide nutrition in conditions of poor digestion, to reduce inflammation, fermentation and putrefaction in the intestines; helps to normalize the work of the intestines and other digestive organs.

Common feature:

The diet is reduced in energy by lowering fats and carbohydrates with a normal protein content with a strong reduction in mechanical, chemical and thermal irritants of the gastrointestinal tract. Consumption of products that increase the secretion of the digestive organs and the fermentation and putrefaction processes in the intestine is not allowed; very cold or hot dishes. Feeding is 5-6 times a day in small portions.

Chemical composition and calorific value:

Protein - 70-80 g (60-65% animal), fat - 60-70 g, carbohydrates - 250 g (40-45 g of sugars), salt - 8-10 g, free liquid - 1.5-2 liters Energy - 1800-1900 kcal.

Foods and dishes that the diet allows and prohibits:

Bread and pasta : thinly sliced ​​wheat rusks, not fried. All other types of pasta and bakery products are prohibited.

Soups : from lean meat or fish broths with a decoction of cereals (semolina, rice) or boiled or minced meat. Consumption of: cereal soups, pasta, dairy, strong and fatty broths is not allowed.

Meat and poultry : lean meats without veins - beef, veal, chicken, rabbit. Fats, fascia, tendons are separated from the meat; in birds - and the skin. It is boiled or steamed. Prohibited: fatty meats, sausages and other meat products.

Fish : lean fresh fish, cooked or steamed. The diet excludes: oily, canned and salted fish, caviar.

Dairy products: freshly made cottage cheese. Whole milk and other dairy products are not suitable.

Eggs : 1-2 per day, lightly boiled, steamed omelet, in the dishes. Hard-boiled and fried eggs are prohibited.

Cereals : pureed porridge (oats, rice, buckwheat), prepared with water or skim milk. Consumption of millet, barley, legumes, pasta is not allowed.

Vegetables : only in soups in the form of decoctions.

Appetizers  are not among the permitted foods.

Fruits, confectionery and confectionery : jellies and pickles, dogwood, cherries, quinces, pears; grated raw apples. Sugar is limited. Prohibited: fruits (including berries) in their natural form, dried fruits, compotes, honey, jam and other sweets.

Sauces and condiments: only skim broth and butter when cooking.

Drinks : tea (especially green), black coffee, cocoa with water; decoctions of rose hips, dried blueberries, black currants, cherries, quinces. Tolerance: diluted freshly squeezed fruit (and forest) juices, excluding grapes, plums and apricots. Prohibited: coffee and cocoa with milk, carbonated and cold drinks.

Fat : only fresh butter 5 grams per serving ready meal. The diet excludes animal fats and cooking fats.

About the menu for diet number 4:

1st breakfast: oatmeal prepared with water; fresh cottage cheese, tea.

2nd breakfast : decoction of dried blueberries.

Lunch: meat broth with semolina, steamed meatballs, rice porridge (with water), sour.

Afternoon snack : unsweetened warm rosehip decoction.

Dinner: steamed omelet, buckwheat porridge (with water), tea.
