Diet № 5 - In Acute Hepatitis And Cholecystitis

The diet is prescribed for recovery in acute hepatitis and cholecystitis, exacerbated chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, chronic cholecystitis and gallstone disease.

The diet is prescribed for recovery in acute hepatitis and cholecystitis, exacerbated chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver without insufficiency, exacerbated chronic cholecystitis and gallstone disease (in all cases, without pronounced gastric and intestinal diseases).

Purpose of the diet

The purpose of the diet is to spare the liver, to help normalize the functions of the liver and bile, to improve the excretion of the latter.

Common feature

The diet is characterized by a normal content of protein, carbohydrates and a small reduction in fat. Products with increased content of lipotropic substances, cellulose, pectins, liquids are recommended. Contraindicated are foods and products rich in nitrogenous extracts, purines, cholesterol, oxalic acid, as well as products in which fat oxidation occurs during heat treatment. Dishes should be cooked, baked and rarely - stewed. Flour and vegetables are not fried. Very cold dishes are excluded. Feeding is 5-6 times a day.

Chemical composition and caloric content of the diet

Protein - 80 g (55% animal), fat 80 g (30% vegetable), carbohydrates - 350-400 g (70-80 g sugar); salt - 10 g, free liquid - 1.5-2 liters. Xylitol and sorbitol (25-40 g) may be included. Calories - 2400- 2600 kcal.

Allowed and forbidden dishes and products
  • Bread and pasta: high quality wheat bread, rye unleavened bread, non-fat pastries with cottage cheese, apples, cooked meat and fish.

Consumption of: very fresh bread, puff pastry and butter dough, fried pasta snacks is not allowed.

  • Soups: vegetable, cereal with vegetable decoction, dairy with pasta, fruit, vegetarian, beet. The flour and vegetables for them are not fried, but dried. 

The diet does not allow: fish, mushroom and meat broths.

  • Meat and poultry: lean meat or cleaned of fat, fascia, tendons, and poultry and skin; beef, tender lamb, rabbit, turkey, chicken. Prepare boiled or baked after boiling; prepared as sarmi or pilaf with boiled meat; dairy sausages.

Prohibited are: fatty meats, duck, goose, liver, kidneys, brain, smoked meats, most sausages and canned food.

  • Fish: lean species; boiled or baked after cooking; in the form of souffle, etc.

Do not consume: oily, salted, smoked fish and canned food.

  • Milk and milk products: fresh milk, sour cream as an addition to dishes, semi-skimmed and skimmed cream and dishes thereof, soft cheeses with low fat content.

The diet does not allow the use of: cream, milk, cottage cheese and salty cheeses with high fat content.

  • Eggs: baked protein omelet, up to 1 yolk per day in the dishes, if tolerated - soft-boiled egg in the form of an omelet. Do not eat fried and hard-boiled eggs. In gallstone disease - up to 1/2 egg yolk daily in the dishes.
  • Cereals: all kinds of cereal dishes (especially buckwheat and oats), pilaf with dried fruit, carrots, puddings with carrots and cottage cheese, cooked pasta.

Consumption of legumes is not allowed.

  • Vegetables: all kinds of vegetables (cooked, raw, stewed), salads, side dishes and main dishes, sauerkraut (not very sour), boiled onions, green pea puree.

Prohibited: spinach, sorrel, radishes, turnips, green onions, garlic, mushrooms, pickled vegetables.

  • Appetizers : fresh vegetable salads with vegetable oil, fruit salads, lean herring, stuffed fish, seafood salads, cooked fish and meat, lean ham, low-fat soft cheeses.
  • Fruits, confectionery and dishes: various fruits, including wild (but not sour) - raw, cooked, baked; dried fruit; compotes, jellies, non-chocolate candies, honey, jam, marmalades, etc. The sugar is partially replaced by xylitol (sorbitol).

Do not take: chocolate, ice cream, creams.

  • Sauces and condiments : cream, milk, vegetable, sweet fruit sauces; the flour is not fried; spices - dill, parsley, vanilla, cinnamon.

Not allowed: mustard, horseradish, pepper.

  • Drinks: tea, coffee with milk, fruit (and berries) and vegetable juices, decoctions of rose hips and wheat bran. Not allowed: black coffee, cocoa, cold drinks.
  • Fats : oil, refined vegetable fats.

Prohibited: lard, beef and sheep fat, cooking fat.

About the menu for diet number 5:

1st breakfast - cottage cheese with sugar and cream, oatmeal, tea;

2nd breakfast - baked apple;

Lunch - vegetarian vegetable soup with vegetable oil, boiled chicken in milk sauce, boiled rice, dried fruit compote;

Afternoon breakfast - rosehip decoction;

Dinner - boiled fish with white vegetable-based sauce, mashed potatoes, cheesecake with cottage cheese, tea.
