Triethyl citrate is a dietary supplement from the group of unclassified supplements because it appears later than the others. It is used as a foaming agent and solvent. It has the appearance of an oily liquid with a slightly fruity aroma.

The substance is obtained by esterification of citric acid with ethanol. Its use is allowed in many countries.

In the food industry, it is used as an emulsifier, stabilizer, thickener, as well as a binding agent in egg white powder.

Triethyl citrate can be used in perfumery to produce various fragrances.

To date, no adverse effects of the substance have been identified. Products containing E 1505 are better not to give to infants and very young children.
