The additive is approved for use in the food industry for coloring products to give them a good commercial appearance. As an additive to various food products (in the production of confectionery and desserts) the highest quality types are used. In most cases, silver enters the body with water, but this percentage is very small.

Silver is used to disinfect water, suppress various bacteria, which is important in the fight against pathogenic microorganisms. A large amount of the element is contained in the egg yolk. The colorant E 174 is rarely used in the food industry because of its high price.

Silver is a heavy metal and is extracted from clay deposits in the earth's crust. It is mainly used in industry for making various items and in jewelry.
