Dimethyl polysiloxane dissolves well in hydrogen tetrachloride, also in chloroform, benzene, toluene, ethyl alcohol and many other organic solvents. The substance does not dissolve in water and ethanol.

Use

E 900 is widely used in food production. It is mainly used as a stabilizer, binding agent, texturizer, also as an additive that prevents the formation of lumps and sticking. E 900 is added in frying fats, oils, some juices, canned fruits and vegetables (in glass jars and metal cans). The substance is also used in the manufacture of marmalades, jams, jams, jellies and other similar products made from fruit.

Dimethyl polysiloxane can be found in cereals, canned and concentrated soups and broths; in soft drinks, in wines, liquid dough, in ready mixes for omelets, chewing gum. In addition to the food industry, the additive is used in the process of manufacturing heat-resistant lubricants, is part of defoamers. It is used as a reagent in the processing of leather and fabrics. It is widely used in the production of paints and varnishes, in household chemicals, in cosmetics. In addition, E 900 has proven itself in medicine and pharmacology as a detoxifying agent and enterosorbent.

In case of individual intolerance to the substance, an allergic reaction may occur in humans. The additive is not dangerous, it is approved for use in all countries around the world.
