With age, there is a weakening of vision, tearing or more serious problems. Then we think not only about sitting in front of the computer and TV, but also about complete nutrition for the eyes. Sometimes healthy foods work wonders. Irrational nutrition worsens not only self-esteem, but also the work of all organs and systems of the body. This affects vision, eventually the eyes are nourished by the same circulatory system that supplies the body's cells with oxygen and the necessary substances.

If the eyes do not receive the necessary nutrients, then the retina cannot normally receive the signals that then enter the brain and form the image of the object. In this way we lose our sight. The process of providing information to the brain is similar to many other processes taking place in the body, so the eyes need complete nutrition.

It is amazing that following a diet to improve vision, you get rid of many other problems that have nothing to do with the eyes. For example, enriching your diet with vitamin A, in addition to seeing better in low light, you will forget about flaky skin.

Vitamin A: one of the most important vitamins for vision. Its deficiency leads not only to the appearance of "chicken blindness", but also to other disorders. Main sources of vitamin A: cod liver, chicken egg yolk, fish oil.

Carotene: Carrots are record holders in carotene content. They also contain antioxidants that prevent eye diseases. Raw fresh carrots are useful. The absorption of carotene is 10-12 times better if you consume vegetables together with products containing fat.

Cranberry plays an extremely important role for the eyes: it enhances vision, helps to increase the visual field, reduces eye fatigue, improves blood circulation to the eye muscles. This berry contains other very useful elements: antioxidants from the group of bioflavonoids, boron, manganese, copper, titanium, chromium and others.

If you are subjected to emotional stress and stressful situations on a daily basis, pay serious attention to your nervous system. Interestingly, almost the same nutrients, in particular B vitamins, are needed to maintain eye and nerve health .

- Vitamin B1 or thiamine: needed for normal eye function. With a deficit, people become nervous, their self-esteem drops sharply, their ability to work decreases. Main sources of vitamin B: meat, rye bread, barley, wheat germ, potatoes, vegetables.

- Vitamin B2 or riboflavin: affects all metabolic processes, including those that occur in the cornea and lens of the eye. Vitamin deficiency leads to impaired vision in low light and at night, burning in the eyes and eyelids, bloody streaks in the eyes due to rupture of small blood vessels. In modern medicine B 12 is used in the treatment of diseases of the cornea and optic nerve, the curtain. Sources of vitamin: apples, wheat germ and wheat husk, dairy products, meat, liver, nuts and eggs.

- Vitamin B6 or pyridoxine: needed for timely eye recovery. In case of insufficient amount in the body there is a strong tension in them, they get tired quickly, sometimes twitching is possible. In order to avoid these ailments, you should consume: milk, whole grains, egg yolk, fish and cabbage.

- Vitamin B12 or cyanocobalamin: differs from all the listed vitamins in that it is contained only in products of animal origin. It is involved in the synthesis of blood cells, affects the work of the central nervous system. When the vitamin is deficient, the eyes begin to tear, become cloudy and look tired. Main sources of B12: milk, cheese, cottage cheese, egg yolk, meat, fish. For its better absorption, substances that are contained in beets are needed, so it is good to include it in the menu.

- Vitamins C and E, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids and the lesser known lutein and zeaxanthin are also needed for eye health. We will introduce you to the most useful products that contain them:

  • Spinach - a source of vitamin C, important for eye muscle tone, as well as lutein and zeaxanthin. The latter two substances are less common in other products, but their concentration in retinal tissues is high.
  • Ostrich and turkey meats are rich not only in protein but also in iron, zinc and vitamin B3. They guarantee us excellent vision and prevent the appearance of curtains.
  • Oily fish (tuna, salmon, sardines), containing omega-3 fatty acids, has a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular and visual systems. With the help of fish products, even the smallest blood vessels of the eyes will be protected.

What is harmful to the eyes?

Excessive consumption of fatty foods and neglect of vegetables - such a diet leads not only to impaired metabolism and weight gain, but also to a deterioration of the blood supply to the choroid and retina, to diseases of the optic nerve. Smoking, alcoholism and excessive exposure to sunlight are also causes of adverse effects.

Frequent use of pasta also impairs vision. Increasing the amount of carbohydrate foods leads to retinal damage, and in the elderly this can cause blindness. According to ophthalmologists, people over the age of 40 are prone to such disorders. After this age you should consume more spinach, broccoli, fresh vegetables and less pasta and sweet foods.

In case of eye diseases, the consumption of products containing starch and sweets should be limited: white bread, refined cereals, tomatoes, puddings, candies, jam; to avoid meat, fatty and salty foods; strong tea and coffee, spices, sauces. The menu should be dominated by the following products: carrots, all leafy vegetables, parsley, fish, seafood, cabbage, sweet peppers, citrus fruits, onions, nuts, apples, whole grains (corn, rye, wheat), eggs, honey.

Salad to improve eyesight : 50 grams of cabbage (white), 30 grams of carrots, beets - 20 grams, radish - 15 grams, 10 grams of parsley, dill - 10 grams, corn oil or olive oil - 1 tbsp.
